I am a native New Englander and have been living and painting on Martha's Vineyard for the past twenty years. I prefer to paint outdoors, in all seasons and all weathers. I've dealt with the hazards of gusty winds and sudden rain, but this was the first time I've painted while dodging golf balls.
Farm Neck provides such amazing waterviews, green expanses, woods and marshes, it was difficult to choose which scenes to paint. Therefore, these compositions are principally ones of mood, favoring the general over the particular. I seek the visual poetry of a place- at Farm Neck, happily, I found it.
Bill McLane studied painting in Germany and continues to evolve as a painter through studies of the Masters. His work is found in several Island galleries and numerous private and corporate collections around the world.
