Born and Raised on Martha's Vineyard, artist Dana Gaines began drawing at age two and never stopped. His third-grade teacher allowed him to skip class to illustrate murals instead. Thus encouraged from a young age, he majored in Studio Art at Williams College (Class of '79) with a minor in History, including a semester of Maritime Studies at Mystic Seaport.

Pen-and-ink, occasionally with watercolor wash, has been Dana's medium of choice as a commercial artist for the past 30 years, drawing house portraits, landscapes and seascapes for architects, builders and realtors. He has a sizable catalog of New England images, and is responsible for the bird's-eye rendering of Farm Neck that has been used and updated on the scorecard since 1992. He jokes that "I probably have more intimate knowledge of the course than any other non-golfer!"

A lover of the great outdoors and a lifelong rower and kayaker, Dana seizes every excuse to spend time on the open water.
